Mcgroggans Ice Cream

With almost a century to our name, McGroggans Ice Cream can safely say that we're one of Northern Ireland's longest serving makers of fresh traditional ice cream and we don't plan on stopping any time soon.

Based in Ballymena, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, McGroggan's was first opened by Hugh and Annie McGroggan in 1922 and their William Street shop continues to stand to this day!

As the years rolled by, the business has always remained firmly in the trusted hands of the family with Hugh and Annie's son Johnny taking over in 1945. With an eye on the prize it was Johnny who first entered the Ice Cream Alliance awards in the 1950s and we've never looked back.

Johnny's nephew Brian finally took the reigns in 1992 and under his guidance we've slowly turned towards the 21st century moving from one success to another. The introduction of this website and newly designed ice Cream branding is just another example of our search for new and interesting avenues

We love celebrating a long and successful history but moving forward is always an aim and the business has now expanded to include three separate shops in the local area. With our ancestral home in William Street still standing, HQ can now be found just two minutes away on Broughshane Street. Our third shop can be found in sleepy Broughshane Village, not to far from our Ballymena base!

We continue to develop and perfect our fresh and traditional home-made ice cream with an ever-changing list of flavours and constantly keep our ear to the ground for the next exciting opportunity.

Our mix of family values and familiar faces with modern technology ensures that our award winning ice cream continues to pick up accolades it deserves right through to the present day! You'll see just some of our awards from previous years below and we hope there are many more to come!

We may have branched out into other ventures but classic ice cream remains at the heart of our business and will continue to do so as we move forward in the coming years.
