More about Manor Court Farm Foods

We are a small business selling the finest quality beef, reared on our family farm in Shipton Gorge. Our beef is not be organic, but we pride ourselves in the excellent care our animals receive. We believe this is reflected in the high standard of beef we produce.

We do not sell beef direct from the farm. We sell from our stall in Bridport Market every Saturday and can deliver to your home, free of charge to customers living locally.

Our produce is also available to buy at Felicity's Farm Shop in Morcomelake and we also please to supply Bidlake Farm Camping, Ford Farm and the Watch House Cafe, West Bay, who use our beef to make their delicious gourmet burgers.

Our Farm
We have been a farming famiily for many years, and have been based in Shipton Gorge since 1967. Before this, we owned Parks Farm in Litton Cheney, which is now home to the Ashley Chase Estate Cheese Factory. - We use Ashely Chase mature cheddar cheese on the burgers we cook and sell on our Bridport Market stall every Saturday.

Our animals graze on 130 acres of farmland in the heart of Shipton Gorge. Our heard is currently made up of around 40 breeding cows and we can have as many as 100 cattle on the farm.

Our Beef:
We have a mixed suckler herd, which includes South Devon, Aberdeen Angus, Hereford and Simmental cattle.

Our calves are weened at around six months, and for most of the year, our animals graze outside on the lush pastureland. In the cold winter months, we house them in barns on fresh straw bedding where they continue to feed on a natural diet of grass silage, hay and barley.

When the animals are fattened, they are taken to our local abattoir, so they travel less than two miles from the farm, reducing stress to an absolute minimum.

At the abattoir, the beef is dry aged for a minimum of three weeks, which allows the rich beef flavour to develop and the meat to become incredibly tender and delicious.

When it is returned to use, the meat is hand cut and carefully prepared into roasting joints, steaks, casserole cuts and prime mince. We also make a selection of tasty beef products including sausages, meatballs, faggots and our extremely popular prime beef burgers.
