The problem to date has been the high cost of these bulbs and misleading claims of the brightness (lumens) of these new bulbs.
Recent developments in LED technology, however, have been addressing these issues. LEDS have been “clustered” to provide more light, mounted within diffuser lens which spreads the light across a wider area.
Advancements in manufacturing technology are driving prices down.
