Luma Care provides a service that supports and enables young adults with autistic spectrum disorders to learn living skills and independence.

A sense of belonging is a basic human need, and important for a rewarding life. We encourage all our young people to participate in a wide range of community activities, helping to reduce isolation and develop relationships outside their immediate environment. Luma Care Ltd aims for re-integration into college, work and society wherever possible.

To achieve this, staff enable the young adults to develop their confidence, aspirations and awareness. Conventional social learning and interaction may have been a negative experience, so imaginative hooks are used to entice them back into natural development, and accepting support. Using stepping-stone experiences that promote the value of learning opportunities, the young people will experience positive outcomes motivating them to develop further.

Access to family and other support networks significantly improves the chance of lasting success for the young adults, and will be encouraged wherever possible. A strong emphasis on partnership reflects the belief that parents and other member's collective strengths and knowledge should be used, enabling them to overcome problems, grow, and develop together as a family.
