Longwell Green Pre-school

Longwell Green Pre-school is a registered Charity Reg No: 1092777 and member of the Pre-school Learning Allliance. We are an independent charitable business that receives advise, guidance and access to subsidised training via South Gloucestershire Education and other governmental supported bodies.
We are managed by a group of volunteer parents and receive our income via the Government Grant Scheme, fee paying parents and fundraising.

Our pre-school is open daily from 9:00am—12.00pm (except Wednesdays when sessions finish at 11.45am). Periodically we have afternoon sessions from 12:00pm—3:00pm.

Our class can take a maximum of 40 children at one time. We have six members of staff per session and so ratios of 1:8 are well maintained. We have full use of our large well stocked pre-school garden which includes a nature area, play area and allotments.


The Community Centre and it’s grounds have been Ofsted Inspected for our use. This enables us to take the children on supervised walks around the sports field including the park to the side of the football pitch.

With parental permission, walks are planned to visit local shops, dentists, post office etc. We encourage people from our community to visit pre-school which helps to enrich the children’s knowledge and understanding of the world. For example road safety attendants, police and fire fighters.

You and Your Child

Each child in our care is assigned a “Key Person”. This person will ensure the individual needs of your child are met. Your child’s key person will help you and your child become familiar with the provision and to feel confident and safe, creating a genuine bond between your child, yourself and the pre-school.

Your child’s key person will make frequent observations, assessments and evaluate your child’s achievements and progress to ensure their next steps are clearly identified and planned for.
