More about Livingroom at Livingstons

Livingston's Restaurant was established in Linlithgow on the 19th December 1994 by the Livingston family; Ronald, Christine and son Derek. It is a testimony of its success that it has thrived for nineteen years in such a competitive field. Livingston's restaurant has won a number of accolades for its cuisine, including a Macallan "Out of Town Restaurant" Award, two AA Rosettes and a listing in the respected 'Michelin Guide'. Son Derek, who originally headed the kitchen team, now leads the front of house team. The kitchen brigade is currently lead by our Head Chef, Martin.

Livingston's Restaurant is on the bustling High Street of Linlithgow. But as it is tucked away, down an alley-way at the back of the buildings fronting the street, you would never know the traffic was so close by. Indeed, there are not many restaurants where you can dine while watching a family of rabbits doing the same on the lawn outside!

The restaurant has three distinct areas. Tables in the original stone building, which at one point was the stable building for Linlithgow Palace, are softly lit and are ideal for a candle-lit meal with someone special. This area leads down into what we refer to as the 'old conservatory', a stone floored area with regal, red linen table covers, romantic candlelight and fantastic views of the wildlife out on our lawn creating an intimate setting for customers. Our newer conservatory extension shares these views of our garden but is slightly brighter lit than it's two counterparts, this teamed with it's complex stone floor work and white walls help to create a relaxed and cheerful ambience while dining.

There is an extensive wine list with prices starting from £4.90 for a glass of house wine, and £20.95 for a bottle of Livingston's own Chilean Merlot. The wine list has a good selection of wines from around the world including New Zealand white and red wines and includes some rare treats, such as a 2008 'Chocolate Box G.S.M', which features the classic Rhone cepage of Grenache, Shiraz & Mataro.
For that special occasion Livingston's also has a wide range of excellent Champagnes to suit all tastes including Pol Roger's 'Sir Winston Churchill', the great man's favourite.
