Little Monkeys

Hello my name is Lisa, I have recently become an Ofsted registered childminder, as previously I was a children's safeguarding social worker.

I'm a mum to two lovely little monkeys ( a 1 year old little boy and an 8 year old little girl).

I live in the Stalybridge area close to local park and schools, I live with my partner and our two children. Our home is an non smoking household and suitable and safe for children. The garden is also very large and child friendly.

I previously worked full time as a children's safeguarding social worker and recently made the decision to become a childminder, in order to allow me to provide a learning and fun environment for children from my home. An environment which will encourage children to learn and develop their skills, promoted via enjoyable learning opportunities ( consisting of both child and adult led activities).

The EYFS is implemented within planning and used to guide my practice as a childminder daily.

I have gained over 10 years of experience of caring for children aged 3 months to 5 years within nursery settings. During such time I have undertaken a range of tasks which ranged from meeting the basic care needs of a young baby, in addition with providing stimulating play experiences (in order to promote the development of skills) to preparing a child for their transition to school.

At Little Monkeys children have access to a range of various toys and equipment at all times and are encouraged to freely chose what activities they wish to participate within and are able to choose what toys and equipment they wish to play with.

Inside my home there is a cosy reading and quiet area in addition with an area for children to play.

The kitchen is where messy play activities are undertaken. I aim to provide messy play daily.

Learning within the outdoor environment is extremely important for children, therefore playing outdoors in the garden daily and making use of the local park which provides nature trails, woods and a play area is undertaken daily ( the park is just a 2 minute walk away). Our garden has vegetable and herb areas in which the children can participate in planting and growing their own vegetables.

Trips to local museums and other events are undertaken (with parents consent). Toddler groups and other activities are also included daily.

Healthy eating is another area which again is crucial within a child's lifestyle, therefore a balanced diet is implemented within the food offered to all children in my care.

Exercise will be promoted daily by encouraging children to walk to and from school/ nursery and to various activities. Outdoor play and trips to the local park also encourage physical activity.

My overall aim as a childminder is to firstly ensure all children are cared for safely, promote fun, provide learning opportunities and work as a team with parents/carers.

All policies are recorded and are provided to all parents in addition with all qualifications I have obtained.

I also offer individual parent meetings every 6 months to discuss children's progress and to answer any questions parents/carers may have.

* I offer daily care from hours already detailed, I also provide before and after school provision.

* My fees are set prices for full days, part time and before and after school.
