More about Little Hilton Farm

Little Hilton Farm was built some time between 1890 and 1910 by John’s grand-father, who was working at that time for Colonel Harries, owner of the nearby Hilton Estate. The farm was part of a large estate as were so many farms in the area.

John's father, Wynford Davies was born in this farmhouse, the 9th child of 14 children in all, and John was also born here. So you see it’s been part of the Davies family for some 115 years.

The farmhouse was originally built of red brick with a Caernarvon slate roof, and whilst we were renovating it in 2004, we were intrigued to find different blends and colours of horse-hair mixed into the mortar. The character of Little Hilton remains throughout the house, with the original beams of Pembrokeshire oak, and pine complimenting the authentic quarry-stone floors. The double bedrooms retain the original fireplaces as well as many unusual features.

The views from the farmhouse are truly spectacular in every direction. To the west are coastal views of Newgale Beach, Nolton Haven, and Broad Haven. Looking north the view stretches from Roch Castle across Brawdy to the St David's headland in the distance.

Easterly the view incorporates the Plumstone range of hills, the craggy outcrop of Treffgarne Rock, and further beyond that the Presceli Mountains.

Surrounding the farmhouse are 56 acres of farmland with a small suckler herd and three horses. Little Hilton is not a working farm as such, as John had a complete career change a few years ago and became a support worker, working with young adults with both physical and learning disabilities
The character of this lovely old farmhouse and its surroundings, coupled with a Welsh warm welcome will provide our guests with a visit that will never be forgotten and hopefully will be repeated.

A typical memory of a holiday spent at Little Hilton would be a lazy evening seated by the lake, accompanied by friends and family, with perhaps a glass of wine nearby, watching the magnificent Pembrokeshire sunset over Newgale Beach.
