Taekwon-Do schools these days usually focus on children and sport rather than the authentic martial art and self-defence. However, there is a place where adults can train in Taekwon-Do with focus on martial art and self-defence. Lisburn A.C.E Taekwon-Do is Authentic Taekwon-Do training in a friendly class environment and the instruction is conducted mostly in English.
Taekwon -D training follows the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) syllabus as designed by General Choi Hon Hi, the founder of Taekwon-Do (TKD). Lisburn A.C.E Taekwon-Do focuses on martial art, rather than martial sport, and includes practical self-defence techniques. Practitioners learn traditional martial art techniques based on Newtonian scientific principles. The practitioner is then progressively taught how to adapt traditional martial art movements into practical self-defence techniques. The full syllabus covers an arsenal that includes blocks, strikes and punches, kicks, with throws and joint-locks at the higher end of the syllabus. The instructor have decades of Taekwon-Do teaching experience and has presented seminars worldwide.
