Lancaster City Swimming & Water Polo Club

Lancaster City Amateur Swimming and Water Polo Club is a Swim 21 accredited competitive swimming and water polo club home to Salt Ayre Sports Centre, Lancaster. We are a friendly, relaxed, yet competitive club with a focus on helping each swimmer and water polo player develop their ability to the fullest in all the main strokes and skills.

The club was established in 1889 and has 125 years experience in swimming and water polo. We are the only club in Lancaster to provide both swimming and water polo training. We are well represented in various competitive leagues and hold many national and regional titles.

The swimming section of the club offers a Learn to Swim Programme for 5 to 7 year olds and a further development programme for 7 to 9 year olds. The club encourages it’s swimmers to enter the two club galas held every year, where they can improve their personal best (PB) times before entering County Championships, Regional Championships and National Championships. As well as swimming we offer Tri training and have a number of swimmers who compete in this, including a biathlon world champion.

Lancaster City Water Polo is arguably one, if not the most successful club, in the UK with a record breaking nine British Championship titles and a staggering eleven Senior National titles. Our members include five Olympic water polo players, two current Great Britain water polo coaches and over 20 Great Britain and regional players.

We offer mini water polo for children aged 9 – 12 who want to have some fun and give it a go! The water polo teams enter in a number of national and regional competitions as well as encouraging our members to trial out for the regional and Great Britain teams.
