Since 1992, the Calvani family have taken their family’s traditional Italian recipes, culinary ethos, and cooking techniques, and then added the finest local ingredients to recreate an authentic Italian experience at La Cantina. It’s food ‘just like Mamma used to make’, with a fresh, modern twist, served without any fuss in a relaxed, vibrant Italian atmosphere where everyone instantly feels at home.
Everything is prepared from scratch, using top quality imported and local seasonal produce. The homemade pasta is fresh every day, and their pizza dough is made the traditional way, to a centuries-old Italian recipe using a ‘lievito madre’ natural yeast culture and fired in a stone oven for the Island’s most authentic Italian pizza. Using the best of what Jersey has to offer they also make a range of delicacies including, homemade Italian style Jersey pork sausages and seasonal foraged offerings, such as ‘gnocchi all'ortica’ stinging nettle gnocchi and local scallops with wild garlic.
While La Cantina keeps things ‘old school’ in the kitchen, the restaurant is bringing Italian food right up to date with a fresh whole-wheat version of their pastas and pizzas, and a menu that allows the guest to customize their meal. There’s a unique user-friendly 100% Italian, price-banded, wine list that features exclusive wines that they import directly from the vineyard, and a large selection of quality wines by the glass.
