I originally studied for a BSc (Hons) at The University of the West of England in Equine Sports Science. After graduating i decided to further my experience and studies by completing a postgraduate course in Animal Physiotherapy with the College of Animal Physiotherapy. I am now a member of the International Association of Animal Therapist.

I specialise in treatment of Equine and Canine from your family pet and lesiure horse to the top level performance animals. I also own and compete my own horse which hightens my appreciation and understanding for the importance of having a horse in the best physical and mental well being.

I am a fully insured practitioner and Animal Physiotherapy is widely recognised by many insurance companies.

Animal physiotherapy uses a variety of techiniques with hands on touch and feel playing a major role. A major advantage of using an animal physiotherapy practitioner is the access we have too powerful pieces of equipment including Phototherapy (Red and Blue light), Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy, Electrostimulation, and Thersoutic ultrasound. All pieces of equipment have their individual benefits some of which include:
Phototherapy- Red Light- Releases endorphins when applied over accupuncture points (brilliant pre massage)
Increases wound healing (optimises epithelial growth)
Reduces scar tissue (prevents proud flesh)
Increases vasodilation
Phototherapy- Blue Light- Used on surgical sites, wounds and areas of infection
Kills bacteria
Reduces suture breakdown
Treats superfical skin infections (inc. mud fever, rain scald, granular licks)

Pused Electromagnetic Field Therapy- reduces chronic and acute inflammation
Wound healing (by increasing vaso-dilation, collagen synthesis and epithelial growth)
Fractures (by mimicking the pizoelectric effect which recruites the bone laying cells to the area)
Pain Relief (Inhibits pain signals and reduces inflammation)

Electrostimulation- Blocks pain signals and reduces inflammation
Stimulates epithelization (for wound repair)
Improves muscles stength and atrophy

Theraputic Ultrasound- Contracted tendons (by realigning the tendon collagen fibres)
Reducing oedema and inflammation in muscles, tendons and ligaments
Softens and strengthens scar tissue
Pain killing effect that reduces muscle spasm and promotes normal function

All treatments are supported by follow up care, rehabilitation and exercise programs. Each animal is different and requires adaptions in treatment plans. Some may require a course of follow up treatments and others may only require regular check ups.
