KB Alterations

I grew up in a home where sewing was part of life. My mother sewed almost all our clothes and studied dressmaking and patternmaking at college. I went on to do the same course at college, in Australia, 25 years ago. Since then I have continued to sew and update my skills in various techniques.

Upon moving to Cambridge I worked, for seven years, in a small boutique wedding dress shop where I honed the specialist skills of altering ball gowns, flower girls dresses, bridesmaid and wedding dresses.

Unless you are one of those lucky ladies who never, ever has trouble finding items that fit you perfectly straight off the rack, there’s a good chance your dress will require alterations.

Sometimes it’s a minor adjustment for example the hem might be too long. Alternatively it might need more significant adjustments. These special occasion dresses can have many complex details such as boning, multiple hems, beadwork and concealed zippers. I am very experienced in altering all aspects of these dresses and will be able to ensure a perfect fit.
