Kate Writes and Makes

"Ooh look you could make your own headbands!" ...and with those words Kate Writes and Makes was born.

Hello, my name is Kate and welcome to my shop. Thanks for stopping by.

It was a chance find in a craft shop that lead me to start making headbands. It all started many years ago when I was in the midst of a serious headband addiction. I wore one every day and my headband collection could have rivalled Blair Waldorf's. My craft of choice at the time was jewellery making and during one of many trips to a local craft shop to buy yet more beads, my sister found hidden away in the wedding section; blank headbands.

I would never have considered making headbands until then - even after buying them I thought it would be something I would do once and move on, or would lie in my craft box with some many other unrealised ideas. The first few attempts were frustrating and less than perfect but once I got the hang of it I couldn't be stopped. Now my headband collection is even bigger and is little by little taking over my house.

I have so many ideas for things I want to make that I would never have the room to store them all or time to wear them. I set up this shop to allow me to keep making the things I love and hopefully others will love too.

A little bit more about me; I was born and bred in the beautiful city of Durham. I love living in North East England; for me it's best place in the world. My tastes in everything from music to clothes to crafts are very eclectic and mixed. Items available in my shop will reflect this some with be girly and cute, some quirky and outrageous, some rock chick chic others old school glamour. I will try to cater for all tastes.

People have been asking about the "writing" part of my shop name. My two loves are writing and crafting. I studied Journalism at university and although currently it's not something I can do I am hoping to get back to writing as well some time in the future.
