Be the best Be a Leader
JLAC are determined to become the best uniformed unit in the Great Yarmouth area. Our professional leaders have military experience and experience working with young people. Our aim is to help young people to become leaders; you may ask how this is done, quite simple, in having the Junior Leaders (Jnr Ldr) take charge from the start with good Jnr Ldr NCOs (J/NCO) who lead from the front. Let me give you an example, recruit training which is basic military skills, would take a 12-18 year old about 6 weeks to complete. Then they would move on to their next grade of training. In addition we expect them to take the new recruits coming into the unit on their training. It’s very difficult for a 12 year old to stand up in front of other young people and teach them drill, that is where they take charge and in that moment they are leading from the front, the perfect JUNIOR LEADER. It’s quite simple, grade 3 which is the next grade up from recruit teach recruits and so on up through their grades. Okay you might ask what happens when they have completed their grade 1 training, well there is still plenty more work to be done which includes writing and planning the training programme, planning exercises just to name a few and of course the running of the unit. May I say besides the young people we have in the unit we also have a great bunch of senior and junior staff.
Have courage, discipline, respect, integrity, loyalty and selfless commitment And you will go far!
