My name is John Patrick Reid Shahabeddin and I'm a quarter Irish, a quarter English, and half Iranian, although you'd never guess it, looking at me. I live wth my wife, Christina, my dog, Treacle Toffee, and my inherited cat, Figgy Pudding, in Northumberland, up North.

I am a completely self-taught photographer and although I dabble in many forms of photography, my deepest love is capturing images of people, especially on their wedding day. I mostly shoot weddings in my local area, but I do cater for the whole of the UK, travelling to and from weddings in my trusty campervan, Max.

Starting off as a humble landscape photographer, I have learned, over time, to combine my portraiture work with my landscape skills to create very dramatic, almost fine art, environmental portraits. I love doing things differently and the quirkier, the better! The idea of romping through a twilight forest, down to a lonely moonlit beach, or up to a mystical ruin or stone circle with a bridal couple makes me want to wet my pants! There is nothing more awesome than admiring your wedding photos and knowing on the most special of days, you shared an intimate kiss together somewhere magical, with the light of a full moon on your faces, in a place filled with fantasy, history, or both.

Most of my wedding clients factor a short stroll through the woods, or along a beach, into their big day, to allow me to capture these signature style images.

When not balancing brides precariously at the edges of cliffs, I prefer to use a more informal, documentary photographic style, which aims to capture those magically natural moments of the day; like kisses, hugs, laughter, tears of joy, and the occasional bum-pinch. I try not to ask people to look at the camera, partly because many people hate having their photo taken (I am one of them!) and mostly because I think it makes better pictures!

​Living in Catcleugh, Northumberland, I am also a stone's throw away from Otterburn, a veritable hub of country wedding bliss, having no less than three excusive wedding venues and only one shop! Yes, Le Petit Chateau, Woodhill Hall and Otterburn Castle are all on my doorstep, which, being surrounded by magnificent forest and moorland, makes these venues particularly sweet! Those further afield will also be pleased to know that I am also a Recommended Supplier for Capheaton Hall, Northumberland and Ripley Castle, North Yorkshire, two fabulous and very excllusive venues.

​I am lucky enough to receive over 200 enquiries every year, but only limit myself to about 20 weddings throughout the season. This ensures that I can spend enough time on each image to satisfy my lust for detail, and that I don't get bogged down with editing and post-processing, which is never as fun as the capturing!

I would have to say that my ideal clients will think their wedding photos are really important. They will be fun, individual and maybe a little quirky and will want to spend a bit of time on their big day dedicated to capturing amazing images. If you fit this bill, then please get in touch!

For me, a massive boon when it comes to shooting weddings is the diverse array of fantastic people I get to meet and become friends with - people from all walks of life - I also feel utterly priviledged to be entrusted with their memories.
