Jan Bella is a Slovakian-born photographer, keen traveller and climber living in Kendal. His first love was architecture, which he studied in his home country. Jan first photographed landscapes when he was fifteen using a film camera borrowed from his mum.
After finishing his studies, Jan travelled to photograph interesting landscapes across the world from England and Scotland to the Alps and Himalayas, as well as making countless trips back home.
Inspired by Baroque and Romantic painters like Velázquez and Rembrandt, Jan is now reinventing himself as a portrait photographer. In all his photographic work, Jan’s aim is to set himself new challenges and to portray his subjects with dignity and grace.
