Royal meadow

This dog-free area is perfect for family picnics, relaxing or playing games. During the summer, the one-hectare Royal Meadow can be hired by groups and organisations as a venue for medium sized events. Off-road parking for up to 500 cars is available.

Working woodland;
Between 1930 and 1960 over 250,000 trees were planted at Irchester – a mixture of conifers and hardwoods such as alder and poplar. These tree plantations are managed for wildlife, timber and recreational use.

There is an on-going programme of selective felling and thinning – with replacement planting of native broadleaf trees such as oak and ash to improve the wildlife habitats.

The timber produced is converted in the on-site workshop into signs and benches and is used in all our Country Parks. Firewood, rustic poles and sawn timber are on sale at the park – ask at the Visitor Centre for more details.

Cafe open
Located in the heart of the park, the original quarry supervisor's building has been converted into a cafe called "The Quarryman's Rest".
