HOW IT WORKS

Keepsake jewellery by Hey Lila is created using a combination of inclusions (hair, breastmilk, ashes..) and high-quality jewellers-grade resin.

Your jewellery will then be finished and polished to create a hand-crafted, unique item which will reflect your chosen specifications. There can be some natural variation including tiny milk bubbles, variation in colour and marbling which I believe adds to the individuality and charm of your chosen item.

Once you have placed your order I will email you with comprehensive instructions on how to package, label and send your inclusions. If you are ordering an item to be made with breastmilk please pm me for postage instructions. First curls and other (dry) inclusions should be sent first class recorded delivery. Once you have placed your order you will receive an order number which you should write down and place in with the item you are posting and also include your name (as it appears on your Facebook profile) and your address.

I will notify you once your inclusion has been safely received, and your order will be completed and dispatched within 6-8 weeks of this date unless otherwise agreed (for complex bespoke orders). Hey Lila does not operate using a lead time.

My average turnaround time may be much quicker from purchase to dispatch but you will be informed prior to ordering on turnaround times for your item. This time includes the time taken for inclusions to be posted to me (including European and Worldwide orders), and excludes non-crafted items such as bracelets, chains and gift vouchers.

Your jewellery will be carefully packaged and presented in a gift box, and will be sent to you by Royal Mail or may be collected if previously agreed.

There are a range of solutions on offer to allow you to personalise your creation. I will endeavour to accommodate any special design requests as long as we are able to do so. Please ensure that you are clear and precise when placing your order.

Each item is handmade and will therefore is likely to vary in appearance from the displayed images. I will endeavour to replicate your purchase to your specifications as best possible, but cannot guarantee this fully. For example, resin colours are made up by hand and may vary, air bubbles may be present, placement of shapes or inclusions within a design can drift during the curing process from the original intended location, the natural colour and makeup of your breast milk will affect the shade of your piece, ranging from white to a creamier, yellowish colour. The size, thickness and mix of your design will also have an effect upon this.

Hair placement is at my discretion, unless specific instructions are given when your order is placed. Your creation is made with the sample that you have given, so if the hair is bent during transit or excessively curly, I may not always be able to lay it in a straight line. I do my best to ensure that it is visibly appealing.

Caring for your creation
Advice on caring for your jewellery and keepsakes are found below-Failure may result in your creation being damaged over time and / or fittings becoming detached. Repairs can be undertaken through prior arrangement. Simply contact me

Silver based items:
Fine silver does tarnish over time. Tarnish is a dulling which naturally occurs when silver reacts with sulphur or hydrogen sulphide in the air. This is not due to oxidation as most people might think. Perfume, sweat and other chemicals may cause sterling silver to tarnish quicker.

Gentle polishing with a soft cotton cloth can remove tarnish as soon as it starts to show. You can use a good quality silver polish, but be careful to avoid getting this on the resin if it is part of your piece. If you prefer the darkening silver look, commonly referred to as patina, then be aware that silver polish removes this.

Humidity, moisture and even the composition of perspiration can speed up the erosion and tarnishing process.

Resin based items:
I use one of the finest quality UV resistant jeweller grade resins available on the market to make sure the condition of your piece is preserved for a long time.

Resin is a plastic however and irrespective of the high quality grade you use, all resins can yellow over time, irrespective of the type of resin being used. To help prevent this, avoid submerging your items in water; exposing you item to chemicals (e.g. perfumes, nail varnish remover, cleaning agents), avoid leaving your item out in sunlight for extended periods of time and protect it from knocks, bumps or stretching.
All of my resin items are sealed using a Uv protective glaze.
To polish up your resin simply clean with mild soap and water, and buff with a soft cloth to dry thoroughly and polish up. Try not to be harsh with your items as they need to be treated with care, like you would any jewellery piece. There are a number of resin polishes available to achieve that professional shine.

Quality Guarantee:
It is important to me that I bring you peace of mind. With my special preservation process, I am confident of the quality of my products and have never experienced the issues you sometime hear about e.g. discolouration and moulding. Any issues like this would normally become apparent in the first three months, so to give you double the assurance, I am providing you with a 6 month quality guarantee for breast milk jewellery. This means if you experience any of these issues, please report them to me immediately and we can replace your item free of charge, once the faulty item has been returned.

Please note: The natural colour and makeup of your breast milk will affect the shade of your piece, ranging from white to a creamier, yellowish colour. Exposure to UV light can sometimes cause tinted milk to fade. It is completely natural for this to occur.

When adding inclusions such as breast milk, cremation ashes, placenta, umbilical stumps, text and locks of hair there is a slight chance that these items can have a chemical reaction with the resin and causes it to discolour. If your resin creation discolours significantly within the first 30 days, please get in contact me and I will replace your item.

I use good quality UV resistant resin, but this, like all the jewellery we make and most jewellery you can purchase elsewhere, requires care to keep it in condition. This means that I ask that you kindly avoid submerging your items in water; exposure to chemicals (e.g. perfumes), avoid leaving your item out in sunlight for extended periods of time and protecting it from knocks, bumps or stretching. At the end of the day, resin is a plastic and irrespective of the high quality grade you use, all resins will eventually yellow over time, irrespective of the type of resin being used.

Due to the nature of resin and jewellery items in general, items can be damaged and or broken. I advise you to check your creations regularly for signs of damage and wear and tear, which may lead to losses. Should your creation break within 3 months of receipt, I will repair it for free. If it breaks after 3 months I will repair it for a nominal cost. Items lost due to damage during use will have to be replaced at the buyers cost unless agreed within the 7 day window of initial receipt. Items should be returned at the buyers cost and should be done via recorded delivery so as to avoid the item getting lost during transit.

This guarantee does not extend to damage caused by misuse where our aftercare instructions are not followed or if the jewellery is lost or stolen.

I hope this information on how the process works is useful - if you have any unanswered questions please get in touch ~
