Healing Waves Acupuncture

I started studying acupuncture after a trip to Sri Lanka many years ago. I met an acupuncturist, who really helped me when nothing else did. She inspired me to start studying and since then acupuncture has been a big part of my life.

I have a degree in acupuncture and have also completed an advanced acupuncture course in China, where I worked alongside the Chinese acupuncturists in the hospitals of Beijing. I have also worked for a charity in a clinic in Sri Lanka and completed an 8 month contract as an acupuncturist on two cruise liners. My career has been pretty varied so far and I am keen to continue to spread the word about the health benefits of acupuncture.

What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a complementary medical practice that involves stimulating certain points on the body with needles to alleviate pain or to help treat various health conditions.

Acupuncture has been used for over two thousand years and is based on an understanding of health, through balance, where all systems are working as they should.

What can it treat?

sports injuries, stress, arthritis, mental health- depression/ anxiety, womens health- infertility, addictions- smoking and more.

What does it do?
It increases blood circulation and releases endorphins from the brain to reduce pain. It relaxes the body and mind and helps to restore the body's equilibrium.

What to expect> An acupuncturist will look for patterns through observation by checking the tongue, pulse, nails, skin and by asking questions about a patients experience.

An acupuncturist will then choose points on your body to insert very fine needles. Patients often say they feel warmth and heaviness and a subtle tingling while the needles are in. Patients describe the experience as relaxing and calming.
