More about Haygrove Farms

Haygrove farm was established 25 years ago by Angus Davison as part of a college project looking at new strawberry growing systems. Our home farm and main office based is located just outside the old market town of Ledbury in the beautiful county of Herefordshire, UK. The farm itself is in an ideal location – a sheltered south facing valley which creates a unique micro-climate suited for cherries and berry production. We grow conventional and organic fruit, which include strawberries, raspberries, cherries, black and blueberries under polythene tunnels to supply the leading UK and European retailers.

In the season Haygrove employ up to 700 seasonal staff and 70 full time staff to run the farm and harvest approximately 2000 tonnes of berries. The Haygrove home farm is the epicentre of research and development for the business where we are constantly trying to improve quality, standards and variety of berries for our customers and market.

In 2001 Haygrove started to grow (with an ex-UK employee and friend Sean Tager) raspberries in South Africa, to transfer skills, market knowledge and pursue a desire to contribute in Africa. In the same year Hemel-en-Aarde was chosen due to its unique cool growing conditions and suitability for a globally competitive raspberry farm. In 2002, 1ha was planted and in 2004 commercial exports began. Today, Haygrove Heaven grows 118 hectares of berries and produces in excess of 1000 tons of fruit annually across 3 sites, 2 in Hemel-en-Aarde and 1 in George.
