Happy Hands PAT

Established as a Holistic Therapist in 1997 in a variety of Holistic Therapies, but excelling in Holistic Massage, Jayne understands how important Positive Appropriate Touch is to ALL ages. Alongside her work with individual clients, she is now focusing her work at either end of the spectrum - from the cradle (new born babies) to the grave (the elderly and palliative).

Jayne is now running courses to teach people how to develop Happy Hands PAT skills as they learn to massage another person.

Infant/ Baby Massage Courses (parent & baby)
Introductory 5 week course. Ideally 6 in a group (includes oil)
Ideally split into two age groups:
o non mobile babies (up to 6 months-ish) and
o mobile babies (up to 1 year-ish)
Advanced 5 week course. Ideally 6 in a group (includes oil)
Ongoing classes. Up to 20 in a group.

Story Massage Courses (parent & child, child & child, or grownup & grownup)
Introductory 5 week course. Ideally 6 in a group.
Ongoing classes. Up to 20 in a group.

Massage In Schools Program (peer massage = child & child)
For pupils aged 4-12, within their own classroom and with their teacher in attendance.
Story Massage can be used for specific educational or social topics.

Jayne Burke established herself as a Holistic Therapist in 1997. Although Jayne offers a range of Holistic Therapies, she has built up a reputation for being an excellent, and a very experienced, and intuitive, Holistic Massage Therapist.

Healthy, positive, appropriate, nurturing touch is important for all ages and Jayne founded Happy Hands PAT (Positive Appropriate Touch) in 2015 as she wanted to share her knowledge with others so that they could develop their own Happy Hands PAT skills and offer healthy, positive, appropriate, nurturing touch to those around them.

Jayne is a staunch believer that people should be empowered so that they feel confident enough to say yes or no to touch and also be able to ask for the touch to be modified (if necessary) so that it is always appropriate, positive, and nurturing. Her courses strongly encourage the development of this. Parents are taught to look out for baby cues from their newborns, and children are offered opportunities to make choices and to verbalise their wishes. Simple signs are also used as a silent method of communication.

These courses offer all participants the opportunity to develop life skills. They are great fun and are a fantastic way to deepen your bond with your child, and enhance family life.

The only adults to touch the children are the children’s parents (unless the child has a support worker in class and needs support with this activity).
All children remain fully clothed (except in the Infant/ Baby Massage courses).
The majority of the massage strokes for the Massage In Schools Program and for the Story Massage are performed on the child’s back (head, hands and upper arms are also included).

Jayne is also offering Happy Hands PAT providing Positive Appropriate Touch to those at the end of life e.g. the elderly and those in palliative care. She is able to tailor her Holistic Therapies specifically to meet individual needs which has the potential to offers both short and long term benefits; making life pleasanter in the final years.

Jayne also offers Therapy based Activity Sessions for groups and Story Massage.

Jayne's work is especially beneficial in Hospitals, Residential Care Homes, Hospices and Day Care Centres.
