Guidance for the party

There is an established formula. We hire the venue, decorate it, and put on a selection of cheesy tunes and all you have to do is turn up and have a ball. Ideally, everyone who comes should make some effort on the costume front even if it’s a token gesture. There’s a prize for the best costume with home made efforts generally favoured over bought costumes. Have a look through this website to see some of the costumes from previous years.

Bring whoever you like with you as everyone is welcome.

Music will be a selection of 80s and 90s chart classics from the Halloween London DJs.

History

A group of friends first set out to oraganise a Halloween costume party way back in October 2003. At the time Halloween was very much an American affair, and hadn’t fully reached these shores other than kids trick or treating. There wasn’t much for adults and it certainly wasn’t the cash fest it is nowadays. When a party was first suggested there were some quizzical looks but people love dressing up so they went along with it. At the first party the small function room at Monkeychews was filled to the rafters.

As it went so well another one was planned in 2004 and double the number of people turned up. It was so much fun the organisers kept organising a party every year and people kept turning up in their droves with a eye-boggling array of paper mache and sticky back plastic creations.

The rest as they say is history – 2012 will be the 10th Anniversary of this annual London scary costume fest.
