When we bought Sergeant Spot in October 2014 we didn't get him vetted.

Turns out he was completely blind in his Right eye due to untreated Equine Recurrent Uveitis, with complications of a luxated lens and detached retina.

His Left eye fortunately had not developed any complications, it did however show signs of previous episodes of ERU.

Unfortunately due to the lack of action from his previous owner he lost his right eye.

One of the key triggers of ERU (and many other conditions horses suffer from) is exposure to sunlight so we, like others, were advised to purchase a Guardian mask.
Guardian masks are the only mask on the market with a 95% UV block and were specifically designed to help in the treatment of Uveitis, cataracts, glaucoma, eye cancer, moon-blindness, head-shaking and photo sensitivity.

When we looked into it we found that we could either buy a mask from the UK at about £20 dearer than the manufacturers price, or wait 2 weeks for delivery from America.

We were so incensed by this that we contacted Guardian masks to enquire about becoming a distributor.

Our aim is to provide the Guardian mask to those who need it at the minimum cost possible.

We now make a pledge to supply the Guardian mask at the same price as the Manufacturer with a next day service, in the hope that it helps to prevent any other horse from suffering the same fate as Spot.

Spots' treatment consists of a preventative daily dose of Danillon, a regular veterinarian eye examination and, of course, he wears a Guardian mask whenever he is outside.

I am incredibly pleased to say that Sergeant Spot has been free from symptoms of ERU since February 2014.
