More about George Inn, Newnham

A traditional rustic pub in the heart of the Kent countryside near Sittingbourne, The George, as it is affectionately known, started life as a farm building in the 1500s and became a pub in 1718. It even has its own bus service, direct from Sittingbourne – just look for the bus with The George on the front.

The George Inn offers more than just usual pub fare – it has its own 50-seater restaurant. Home-made soups, the George burger & range of tasty ploughmans to name but a few dishes offered at lunchtime. At dinner why not try our slow roasted belly pork braised in cider, juicy sirloin steak or sea bass with green vegetables & cucumber sauce. You can enjoy your food in the separate restaurant or in one of the two bars and keep snug by either the large inglenook fireplace or the log burner.
And of historical interest to pub-goers, James Pimm’s, who invented the fruit cup Pimm’s, was born in the village.

Although dogs are not allowed into the pub itself, why not make the most of the beer garden where dogs are very welcome!
