The Garden of the Wind at Middle Hunt House was started in 2002. Until 2015 it was run by the Monnow Valley Arts Centre.. It is situated in an area of oustanding natural beauty on the border of England and Wales.
The modern garden is the creation of Rupert and Antoinetta Otten. It is situated at 200 metres above sea level and can be windy. Planting reflects the modern style using blocks of plants, its aspect overlooking the Black Mountains and its windy location.
Throughout the garden there are modern sculptures and carved lettering. It is also the home to part of the Art & memory collection of carved contemporary art on loan from the Lettering and Commemorative Arts Trust.
The garden is open without appointment on the last weekends of June, July, August and September from 2-5 pm and to groups by appointment.
The Parterre ‘Sensory’ Garden houses an annually changing installation that is tacticle in nature and the ‘Memory Field’ houses a permanent and growing collection of Memorial Art on loan from the Memorial Arts Charity (hyperlink to http://www.memorialartscharity.org.uk/)
