The course at Carmarthen has an outstanding reputation for excellence. Established in 1965, it has consistently provided a challenging, dynamic and exciting programme which encourages experimentation, inventiveness and ambition.
Through the course, students will develop their understanding, knowledge and ability by exploring a broad range of approaches and working practices within the specialist pathways of Fine Art, 3D Art and Design, Fashion and Textiles and Visual Communication / Lens Based Media.
The course is delivered in three stages. Stage One is diagnostic in nature and introduces you through practice and theory to the commonalities and points of difference between the specialist disciplines. Stage Two you will elect to continue your studies through one of the four specialist pathways above. Workshops are specific to your chosen pathway and are selected from the following: Painting, Drawing Printmaking, Performance, Fashion, Textiles, Costume, Interiors, Graphics, Photography, Animation, Film, Illustration, Sculpture, Ceramics, Glass, Hot metal, Jewellery and Installation. Stage Three you will propose and complete a major project exploring personal interests within the context of your chosen specialism which will culminate in a public exhibition.
