More about Forest Independent Primary Collegiate

Teaching is an exciting and rewarding profession. If you are looking for a change in career and are seeking a place on the PGCE/QTS programme then Forest Independent Primary Collegiate (FIPC) could be a major factor in helping you to achieve that objective. The PGCE element of the course is validated by Middlesex University which means that the programme is quality assured by Middlesex University and you will receive a Middlesex University PGCE award on successful completion. The FIPC partnership schools lie within the London Boroughs of Waltham Forest, Redbridge, Enfield, Hertfordshire and the county of Essex.

Our SCITT (School Centred Initial Teacher Training) PGCE route is based upon a school partnership scheme which currently involved 30 schools. During the course you will have three placements at mainstream schools and one placement in a special needs school. The collegate subject taught course takes place in its building on the Limes Farm Junior School site adjacent to Limes Farm Infant School, Limes Avenue in Chigwell, Essex IG7 5LP. This creates a community dedicated to teaching and learning. The FIPC is close to the three underground stations: Chigwell, Hainault and Grange Hill linked with local buses.
The Forest Independent Primary Collegiate School Direct Programme has strong links with both the SCITT partnership schools as well as local schools in Essex and other neighbouring LA’s.

All our schools have a very high commitment to ITT in whatever form it may take. The Management Comminttee is very active and rigorous in reviewing current practise and seeking ways to improve what we have to offer. There is a supporting network of committees repesenting mentors, subject tutors and trainees.
Forest Independent Primary Collegiate graduates year on year receive full employment. All trainees complete the year’s training and our surveys say that they feel competent and confident to start their first classrooms in the september.
