13 million people live in poverty in the UK and that includes 3.6 million children. Many people in Derbyshire are experiencing financial hardship - for many reasons and often through no fault of their own.

Losing a job, suffering a bereavement, ill health, disability or caring for someone are often significant factors - especially if this means someone is unable to work.

Low wages, benefit changes, sanctions and mounting debts mean many people are struggling to make ends meet.

We aim to address these issues by making sure people have access to suitable financial products such as affordable loans, basic bank accounts and budget accounts. We work to give people the know-how so that they can manage their money better, and we work with our partners to make sure that when things go wrong, there is support and help available to reduce hardship and get people's lives back on track.
