TO HELP THE LOCAL COMMUNITY FLOURISH
We believe that local communities should work with each other to support the local economy. If we keep outsourcing then we reduce the amount of local businesses, local jobs and the general standard of living depletes for all. Thus the community no longer feels like a community as people do not want to help others if they feel they are being exploited themselves.
• By buying all our products locally to keep money flowing around the local economy
• By making our café attractive to as diverse a range of people as possible to encourage interconnection in the local community
• By supporting other local social groups by providing a hub for meetings, advertising etc. By getting engaged with local schools and community events.
• By offering unique goods to make the local community for distinct and attractive: the promotion of an ‘edible street’, for example.

TO CREATE A CULTURE OF 100% SUSTAINABILITY
• To get as close to zero waste as possible through the use of things such as compost bins.
• To buy all products from sustainable sources, to check the supply chains of our products to help ensure sustainability.
• To minimise the use of limited natural resources, to aim for eventual 100% renewable energy.
• By buying local to reduce carbon emissions and ‘food miles’.
• By finding replacements for disposables
• By giving information to staff and customers as to how they can be more sustainable.
• The all-encompassing wider and long term goal is, by the growing demand for sustainability, the supply chain should grow and become more accessible and available, making it a real choice for more people.
