The University of Edinburgh Exmoor Pony Trekking is a student-run non-profit making organisation (all the money we make goes back into caring for the ponies, trek leaders are not paid). We own 13 ponies at present. We cater for all levels of rider - whether you've never sat on a horse or whether you have ridden all your life, we guarantee you will have a fun time!

The ponies are currently at Swanston farm, South Edinburgh. Trek leaders will organise getting you out to the ponies which either involves driving out to the ponies or the 15/4 midlothian bus from the city center. Treks last approx 3 hours and prices are as follows:

£35 non-student
£25 student/ under 18s

If you would like to come out trekking more frequently we can offer you a membership costing £15, and this gives you £5 discount off every trek.

Trek leaders are mainly vet students who have taken a 1 year course to learn the ropes. We get taught first aid, pony first aid and how to take out a safe and enjoyable trek. If you are a student at the University of Edinburgh please send us a message if you would be interested in doing our Trek Leader Course. (Costs £130 for a year, and you go to ride ponies every second wednesday afternoon, but this allows you to ride whenever you want... )
