East Lancashire Wing Chun Kung Fu

Set up and run by Sifu Steve Colton in 1985 the club is one of the longest running under the Master Samual Kwok banner in the country and still has very close ties with Master Kwok who regularly attends our club in Colne to do seminars. Steve takes great pride in his club and his students as their Wing Chun is a reflection of his own and Master Kwok's high standards, many of Steve's students have gone on to obtain instructor level themselves and the club has won numerous titles in Kung Fu competitions nationally over the past 10 years under Steve's guidance. Steve himself has won first place in a national competition in the 90's beating the then current European champion into second place. Steve and his club members have performed many Kung Fu demonstrations whilst representing Samual Kwok Wing Chun, including Leicester Square in London where they appeared on both national television and television in China. The club have attended many seminar's abroad to meet and exchange techniques and train with other Wing Chun students in Europe, Hong Kong, China and most recently with the Beijing Whu Shu team made famous by the movie star Jet Li.

About Steve.

Steve has been involved in martial arts since the early seventies and like many others got his inspiration from Bruce Lee movies, which exploded onto the big screans at that time. Steve has studied both Judo and Karate to a high level before deciding that he wanted something a bit different from his martial arts training, in 1983 Steve began searching for alternatives and came across the Chinese Kung Fu style of Wing Chun, although the training and techniques were very basic in those days due to general lack of knowledge Steve soon became hooled and searched out for further instructions. Luckily this was not too far away as Master Samual Kwok was advertising in Martial Arts magazines for pupils and immediately Steve contacted Master Kwok, the rest as they say is history, Steve is now Master Kwok's most senior nstructor in the North West of England not only has he been training with him since 1984 but he has also had the privilege of training with Master Yip Chun and Master Yip Ching.
