More about Early Intervention (Central Norfolk)

What do we do?

The Early Intervention Service work with people between the ages of 14-35 who are worried by unusual experiences sometimes described as ‘psychosis’. The team is made up of mental-health professionals including nurses, social workers, psychologists, support workers, occupational therapists and psychiatrists.

What is our aim?

Our aim is to help those within our service to make sense of their experiences and aid them in coming to terms with what has happened. By overcoming their difficulties; we endeavour to support our service-users in living their life the way they wish, without ‘mental health’ being a barrier.

How do we achieve this?

We try to achieve this by offering a reliable support service. This may be through simple things such as answering questions or queries around mental health or offering flexible appointments in locations that are comfortable for our clients.

Or it may be more practical support such as accessing accommodation; returning to work or education, participating in voluntary work, supporting family and friends, reducing social anxiety, exploring options such as therapy and medication or finding other ways to manage these ‘experiences’.

How can you contact us?

If you are having unusual experiences and are worried by these contact the team on 01603 201552 to arrange an initial meeting, or e-mail talk2theteam@nwmhp.nhs.uk

Where are we based?

We are based at 80 St Stephens Road in the centre of Norwich. We are able to offer appointments here, but prefer to meet at your chosen location whether that is at home, school, your local GP or youth centre, MAP or even a coffee shop or café.
