More about Dog Logic - For Happy Dog and Owners

I am a qualified CAPBT affiliate having completed Year 2 of the COAPE Diploma in Companion Animal Behaviour and Training. You can find out more about what this means to you by going to the following websites: www.capbt.org and www.coape.org

There are 3 areas I work in:
◾Puppy training and socialisation
◾One to one training
◾One to one behaviour consultations

We love our dogs, they have been by our side for a great many years but now, more than ever, we want them as loyal companions, not asking them to do a job other than to be part of the family. This is a tough ask for many breeds and we need to prepare them for what we want them to do. With my puppy training, I aim to equip puppies with the life skills they will need to be part of the family home and educate owners in how to teach their puppy how to do this so they can be the best dog they can be as an adult.

However, some dogs struggle with this and some owners struggle with this later on down the line. I am not here to judge but to help create a balance where you can enjoy each other and, as an owner, you can better understand your beloved pet and what he or she needs from you to be happy too! There are times when some additional one to one support is required to help with those everyday behaviours that are so necessary - walking calmly on a lead, having a good recall, not jumping, to name but a few - and I can help you achieve this so you can relax and enjoy your dog without that worry in the back of your mind.

Finally, there are some who are in the position where there are more serious behaviours being displayed that require a more detailed look at the dog's overall emotional state to help us work out the best treatment plan for your pet. We are all individuals so I approach each request for support with an open mind, focussed on you, your dog and your situation.

I work using reward-based training and positive reinforcement. We want your puppy/dog to want to perform new behaviours. By rewarding the behaviours we want and ignoring unwanted behaviours, they will continue to perform the new behaviours because there is something positive in it for them - a reward. The key to success is consistent, clear communication.

For more information on each area, please refer to the appropriate page on my website.
