A ten-minute walk brings you to the magnificent National Trust Lyme Park and footpaths practically from the doorstep follow some wonderful walks and cycle trails. A little further away are the towns and villages of New Mills, with the Torrs Millennium Walkway, a much-admired bridge, set deep in the gorge. Chapel-en-le-Frith, the 'Capital of the Peaks’, is only 7 miles away, boasting a cobbled marketplace with old stocks and the lovely Chestnut Centre, home to otters, owls and many more. Buxton, with its magnificent opera house and architecture, is a 20-minute drive away, or the bright lights of Manchester can be easily reached by train should you fancy leaving the car behind for the day. All in all, the setting and character of this beautiful cottage is perfect for a varied holiday.

Disley is a thriving village on the borders of North West Derbyshire and Cheshire, an area known as the High Peak, near the Derbyshire Peak District. The village has a range of amenities including pubs, a village Post Office, fish and chip shop, restaurants and an excellent butcher. Disley is home to magnificent NT Lyme Park, where Pride and Prejudice starring Colin Firth was filmed. Some wonderful walks and cycle trails are on the doorstep, and close by is the little town of New Mills, with the Torrs Riverside Park a place for recreation and relaxation. The Torrs Millennium Walkway, a much-admired bridge, is set deep in the gorge and attracts many visitors. Within easy driving distance is the delightful spa town of Buxton, famous not only for its therapeutic spring water, but also for its Pavillion Gardens and splendid Victorian Opera House, which boasts a variety of shows, attracting people from all over the world. Within easy driving distance are the Blue John show caves at Castleton, the Chestnut Centre Otter & Owl Sanctuary, and many stately homes, such as Chatsworth House.
