I have been creating wedding stationery for a little while now but began Danielle Bleuse in 2014 after falling head over heels in love with letterpress printing. The luxurious cotton papers, hand mixed ink and feel of running your finger across the debossed type are just some of the reasons why I love a letterpress invitation.

Based in rural North Yorkshire my printing studio is found in one of the outbuildings on the family farm - lovely in the summer but freezing cold in the winter!

A little red adana press was my first introduction complete with a huge collection of metal type that was kindly gifted to me by an extremely generous retired pressman. It wasn't long however until I took the plunge and bought the beautiful machine that is my vintage Original Heidelberg from 1962.



Hans

All the letterpress stationery is printed on 'Hans'. He is quite the beast, built the good old fashioned way in solid cast iron and weighing well over a ton. His real name - an Original Heidelberg Windmill.

Designs are created onto a raised photopolymer plate wihich is inked up and applied with pressure to a thick cotton paper. This creates the beautiful debossed impression that is now so popular with modern letterpress.

The Letterpress collection was named after my lovely Grandmother, an independent and small scale wedding dress designer and maker from Chantilly, France. Sparking the interest in stationery and giving inspiration, it seemed fitting to name the collection after this lady.
