Choosing the right school for your child is not an easy process and you will want to be sure that the decision you reach will meet their present and future needs.

Typically, a Cumnor House day for all our children from the nursery upwards is one of purposeful industry, allied to lots of laughter and fun. We make no apology for aspiring to high academic standards, nor should we, and we are unashamedly proud of our record of scholarship and examination success to leading HMC schools, the Whitgift Foundation Schools and local grammar schools.

First and foremost, though, we subscribe to those timeless values that embrace good manners, courtesy, self-respect, respect for others and a sense of duty and responsibility. We then challenge our children to move away from their comfort zone and to take risks in order to discover that the seemingly impossible can in fact be achieved.

And yet, underpinning all this, we believe that children should be allowed to enjoy their childhood away from the pressures they may encounter later at senior school and beyond. Importantly, therefore, we are not an academic ‘hot-house', rather we are an all-round school that also promotes and celebrates achievement in sport, music and the arts at all levels. Prep School days really are the best of all!

Nursery is often a child’s first experience of the world outside their home where they meet new adults, begin to make friends and are exposed to a multitude of new play experiences.

Our team of highly experienced and qualified staff are expert in supporting nursery age children. Together with you, we ensure that a child’s first educational experience is calm, well planned and great fun!

We offer a caring and warm environment that supports young learners. We introduce learning and challenge through the play on offer and ensure that all children thrive. Each child is given one to one teaching and is treated as an individual in order to make excellent progress with their learning and all round development.
