Combe House - care home

Specialism: Combe House caters for adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health and epilepsy. Currently this is an all male service.

Type of Service: 24-hour residential service.

Age Range: 18 - 45 years

Current Profile of Service: Combe House is a very busy and vibrant home. There is a communal lounge and dining room and the large and accessible kitchen as well as a conservatory in which service users relax with atmospheric lighting whilst listening to music. There is a large garden where service users play skittles, archery, and football with an activity cabin, which is used for playing Nintendo, X-Box games, it is also a place where people can use sensory equipment. The cabin is another place for people to watch television, if any individuals want to sit quietly away from others.

Hours Provided: The service has staff on site throughout the day and a waking night member of staff. Individuals are assessed for 1:1 hours as required.

Focus of Service: We provide a tailored service to each individual based on their assessed needs and care plan. The home is very structured with various formats of communication and pictorial systems in place. The ultimate goal is to maintain and increase levels of independence and essential lifestyle skills. The staff team use applied behavior analysis along with proactive strategies to help each service user manage day to day situations and to achieve their set goals.
