About Cochrane House
We’ve been visiting this part of Scotland for many years and have always encouraged friends to join us and experience the beauty of the region.

Cochrane House is a beautiful Georgian townhouse. Accommodation is set over the first and second floor, with fantastic views over the historic late 16th Century ruins of MacLellan's Castle. Now in the hands of Historic Scotland, the castle is a popular visitor attraction, as is the statue of Robert the Bruce that stands in front of the castle.

On entry, wind up the feature Georgian staircase and you'll find a light and airy landing with kitchen, spacious living/dining room and newly fitted bathroom with power shower.

Continue to the top floor where you'll discover two bedrooms. Bedroom 1 has a double bed and dressing room. Bedroom 2 is set up with two single beds, although has the capacity to sleep three on single beds (two spare single beds are stored under the main single beds).

We're also very lucky to have an outside space at the back of Cochrane House. It's accessed by turning left out of the front door and left immediately through a side gate that leads to the private and fully enclosed garden.

Kirkcudbright is a great place to escape the day-to-day and disappear into the wide open spaces of the Galloway hills. Alternatively, scour the coastline and discover the many hidden beaches where your only company is the local wildlife.

While you’re here also check out the wide range of local artisan foods. Castle Douglas is known as ‘the food town’ and is well worth a visit.

All in all, there’s far too much to enthuse about so enjoy your stay and we hope you too share our passion for this wonderful part of Scotland.
