I gained a BSc (Hons) Psychology in 1996 and an MA in Counselling in 1997.
I am fundamentally a Person Centred Counsellor although I do integrate my work with CBT, NLP, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, creative therapy, and relaxation techniques if my client feels it would be useful.
In October 1999 I started my own business, Caleidoscope Counselling Services. I offer counselling, training, consultancy and supervision. I counsel individuals and couples with many issues (including young people who have been abused and young people with drug abuse issues).
I have worked as a workplace counsellor and supervisor. I have worked with nurses, doctors, the police, council workers, teachers, and mental health workers. I work with many issues including bereavement, stress, anxiety, bullying, historical abuse, and relationships.
I have taught counselling at all levels from basic counselling skills through Diploma to MA. at Durham University. My teaching at Durham involved not only lecturing and teaching skills but also supervision and facilitating personal development groups.
