Let’s “CHALK” Shop ….

Chalk Shop trades as Pilola, a family run business since 2002. The idea of creating chalkboard products for the market came about when we needed customisable information boards to promote our events. We wanted a more traditional, rustic, quality hand crafted look. We couldn’t find what we where looking for so set about producing our own. Other crafter’s and businesses then became interested in our sign boards so this led to producing small batches which were then distributed through a local Berkshire building sign supplier; TCOB. Demand for chalkboard and ink transfer arrow direction signs increased, so there became a need to create an identity to promote our new product range. Chalk Shop was created. Our relationship with TCOB remains and they still supply our chalkboard sign based products under the TCOB brand.

Our Chalk Shop brand is dedicated to producing quality chalkboard and related products, hand crafted in the Chalk Shop workshop. All boards are created from 6mm MDF sheets that are cut to size and shape by hand and hand painted with multiple coats of quality weather-resistant black chalkboard or chalk paint. Frames and stakes are produced from pressure treated soft wood for durability and weather resistance. Our frames can be produced as natural unfinished, finished in oak coloured wax or shabby chic chalk paint and wax aged effect.

The chalkboard product range includes wall mounted direction and notice signs, stake mounted direction and notice signs as well as A-frame signs and counter top display solutions. Custom options are also available on request so please contact us via email or telephone.

Chalk Shop is not just about chalkboard signs and notice boards! We also apply a “Shabby Chic” or “New England” aged effect to our wooden frames using quality chalk paint and wax. This product range includes hand painted and aged picture frames, wall mounted plaques and furniture. We selectively source our picture frames and furniture then apply the aged chalk painted effect, so most shabby chic products will be unique.
