The two individual disciplines in the School:
• Economic Studies: Founded in 1931. 2011 marked the 80th anniversary of the opening of the Dundee School of Economics. The careers of many famous economists started in Dundee, including the Nobel Prize winner Ronald Coase.
• Accounting & Finance: Teaching of accounting within the University of Dundee dates back to the 1930’s when evening classes in the subject began. By the 1960’s accounting was a required module for mechanical engineering degrees and a separate Department of Accounting was established in 1972/73. 1986 was a milestone with the launch of the BAcc and BFin degrees, and a degree in Business Management commenced in 2009.
