More about Bucks Farm Holiday Cottages

A choice of three beautifully and stylishly converted barn cottages set in an idyllic rural location, surrounded by open countryside, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, ideal for walkers and cyclists.
Each cottage is tastefully furnished and well equipped for two people, The Bike Shed & Surf Shack are both doubles and the Poacher’s Hut is a twin.
The New England style, including ‘washed’ wood grain flooring, contemporary shades from Farrow & Ball and complementing fixtures and fittings deliver a relaxed, chilled feel matching the tranquility of the unspoiled rural surroundings and far reaching, panoramic views. With the front of the cabins facing East, the morning sun pours in and with each cabin having its own patio, it is the perfect place to enjoy breakfast and morning coffee whilst taking in the glorious scenery.
In the winter months, or to take off any summer evening chill, each cabin has a wood burning stove creating a cosy atmosphere at any time of the year. A basket of logs and fresh eggs can be purchased from the farm house.
For those bringing bikes, surf boards and the like, a barn is available for storage.
These desirable cabins nestle in downland, above the peaceful village of Shorwell, only 3 miles from the south coast of the Island, which is made up of a number character thatched cottages, a local Post Office/ shop and the popular Crown Inn with pretty gardens for ‘al fresco’ dining in the summer. The village also features a lovely church that dates back to the reign of Edward III and three historic manors. You can also walk to Carisbrooke Castle along the Shepherds Trail and enjoy the stunning views over open countryside to the cliffs of Freshwater Bay in the distance.
Footpaths alongside the cottage join the Island's oldest bridleway, The Shepherds Trail, which reaches Shepherds Chine only 2 miles away where beaches, making up part of the Heritage coast, renowned for its fossils, can be found. The sandy coves of Compton Bay and Freshwater Bay are only a short drive away from the cottage, both popular for surfing, body boarding and kayaking. The County Town of Newport is approximately a 15 minute drive and the Victorian resort town of Ventnor with pubs, restaurants, beach and local shops is approximately 20-25 minute drive away.
