The British Embassy Rangoon is supported by a dynamic and resourceful team who provide political and economic analysis, and engage with government, democratic forces, and all parts of civil society.

We want to encourage a peaceful transition to a fully democratic, accountable and inclusive government, enabling significant improvements in human rights and fundamental freedoms, peaceful and equitable resolution of the country's longstanding ethnic conflicts, and better economic and social prospects for ordinary people.

The British government works to achieve these goals for the people of Burma through:
- UK Aid in Burma (Department for International Development (DFID);
- Grassroots Development Programme (supporting smaller civil society programmes);
- Our Millenium Centre network, covering all 14 States and Divisions;
- Chevening Scholarship programmes
