Bright Woods Forest School is a Community Interest Company based in Teesdale.

Bright Woods Forest School believes in children’s rights to play, to access the natural world, to experience appropriate risk and a healthy range of emotions.
We believe that children who are given the freedom to play in the outdoors, get dirty and wet are simply happy children. Such children are more fulfilled, less prone to depression and more connected to the world around them.


We work with pre-schools, schools, community groups, families, youth groups, voluntary organisations and individuals. We can run sessions from our site at Deepdale Nature Reserve (www.durhamnature.co.uk/deepdale.html) or come to your location.

Our offer includes Forest Schools programmes, Outdoor Education sessions, Toddler and Pre-schooler groups, Book Walks, Events and Birthday Parties.

We also run workshops for adults and can organise tailor made team building activities.
