More about Braywood House Estate

Welcome to Braywood House Estate.

Dating back to about 1860 and formerly a vicarage, Braywood House and the adjoining church (now demolished) were built by the architect Talbot Bury for the then Belgian Ambassador, Jean Van de Weyer and his wife. Braywood House is a charming country house occupying an enviable and unique position on the edge of Windsor Forest, and stands in wonderful secluded grounds with far-reaching and picturesque views.

This sensational house is constructed of flint and Bath stone and offers elegant and stylish living space with many interesting and period features including high ceiling and open fireplaces, together with a number of shuttered windows.

Stone steps under a gabled porch lead to a heavy wooden door with glazed panels, that opens into a spacious and welcoming reception hall with a fireplace and high ceilings. Leading off the hall are two generous reception rooms, both with shuttered windows into deep bays and Adams style fireplaces; the sitting room has the added feature of a wood-burning stove fitted.

The first floor accommodation is arranged two provide four good-sized double bedrooms including a well-appointed master bedroom with superb views over open countryside and an en suite bathroom. There is an additional family bathroom and a store room.

Braywood House Estate enjoys a rural setting at the western end of Windsor Forest, yet is well placed for the motorway network and local shopping facilities. There are excellent shopping, leisure and recreational facilities available at Windsor, where there are regular train services to London Waterloo and London Paddington, via Slough. Rails services to Paddington are also available from Maidenhead which is due to benefit from Crossrail, the new high speed service. The area boasts a wealth of well-regarded restaurants and gastropubs including The Winning Post in Winkfield and the Michelin starred Royal Oak in Paley Street, The Fat Duck, Waterside Inn and Hinds Head in Bray.

Recreational facilities in the region are excellent and include golf at the nearby Bird Hills Golf Centre, Wentworth, Sunningdale, The Berkshire and Swinley Forest golf clubs, polo at the Royal Berkshire Polo Club and Smith's Lawn, horse racing at Ascot and Windsor, and rowing and boating on Dorney Lake and some stretches of the River Thames. Spa facilities are available at The Berystede, Coworth Park and Penny Hill Park and walking, cycling and riding may be enjoyed in Windsor Great Park .
