My name is Sensei Jonathan Kane. To my students and friends, Jonny. The BMAA focuses on giving people life excellence, not just in the dojo or on the mat but in schools, the work place and every day environments. We aim to increase confidence, focus and discipline within a friendly environment. We offer the very best in combat and self defence training along with the performing side of martial arts. Technique, style and perfection is something we take great pride in.

The British Martial Arts Academy was founded in 1994 by Master Brian Beck, and has been a leading academy in world wide martial arts, with a number of its students going onto careers in the television and film industry. We have produced a number of British, European and World champions in a wide range of disciplines from traditional forms to semi contact fighting. We dedicate ourselves to others to ensure we maintain these standards.

I myself have been training in martial arts for over 27 years. Firstly training in traditional wado ryu before covering a wider range of martial arts under Shihan David Brown. I have been trained in styles such as jiu jitsu, judo, aikido, various weapons and freestyle kickboxing. In 1992 I was introduced to Master Brian Beck and his son Ashley Beck, who introduced me to advanced freestyle kicking. From then I went onto winning a number of major titles.

Since the age of 14 I have been teaching martial arts. Using traditional and modern methods combined I offer a friendly, fun environment for both children and adults wanting to get into the sport and then a stricter professional attitude for those wanting to excel in the sport. Having a passion for martial arts and the experience of training with the best I offer first class instructing to produce the best.

If you are interested and would like to see what the BMAA has to offer please come and enjoy a free training session with the club. Our beginners and kids class's start at 6pm on Tuesdays and Fridays, or for those with experience and wanting to cover more advanced martial arts our lessons start at 7.15 on the same nights.
