Blank Space Theatre

Working as a fully functional theatre company members will be encouraged to explore roles within the process of creation and given the opportunity to turn their hand to each aspect of the theatrical process.

The intention is to allow members to find their niche, theatre is not just about performance, and although performance based activities can help build confidence and personal growth, these things can also be improved greatly by mastering a new skill, or finding a new passion or interest; an interest that will work to create a sense of a achievement across the company in the work that will be created together.

The dream is to create a diverse team that is able to create high quality performances with both social and political importance that can be shown in both the public and private sectors.

A Safe Space to Engage Imagination...
Coming from a therapeutic background nurture and respect are at the core of we what we do. The people we work with shape and mould the way we work and our client led approach makes us a truly collaborative company.

A Collaborative Structure...
A Collaborative structure gives company members freedom over their choice of role, from set designer to performer, script writer to makeup artist. Not only this, all members will be encouraged to give regular input over the theatre we create and the way run, grow and develop; We want this to be a shared project!

A None-profit Organisation...
Working as a none-profit organisation makes us eligible for funding from various bodies such as, The Arts Council England and The British Council; This framework would also allow us to apply for various awards such as the Oxford Samuel Beckett Theatre Trust award which could really help the company to create high quality productions.

An Inclusive Theatre Group...
Although we would fall under what would typically be branded an Inclusive Theatre Group, this is not a term we wish to be associated with. Coined in the seventies the term is outdated and something we feel should be, obsolete. Stating something to be inclusive is explicit of other places being exclusive to members of said group... We do not want members to feel this is a company they can join because it's "Inclusive"; We want our members to join because they have an interest, a passion or a want to work with us. It just isn't a term that fits with our ethos.
