What is the BikeBus Explorer?

The BikeBus Explorer is a public bus service which takes walkers and cyclists closer to the countryside. It pulls a 20 cycle bike trailer behind - a first for Cambridgeshire. Similar services operate in only a handful of destinations in the UK.

When can I use the BikeBus Explorer?

Sundays and bank holidays only. The bus departs from a stand close to Cambridge Rail Station, four times a day, connecting villages between Barton and Gamlingay with the city.

Where can I go on the BikeBus Explorer?

Taking a circular route through the countryside west of Cambridge, the BikeBus Explorer will take visitors directly to such attractions as the magnificent Wimpole Hall, numerous historic villages and the beautiful ancient woodlands of this part of the district, many of which are managed by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire.

Can I use the BikeBus Explorer if I do not have a bike?

The answer is simple, yes. For foot passengers the BikeBus can be boarded at any stop.

Tickets

For those wanting to hop on and off the BikeBus at any point over the route, the Day Explorer ticket is priced at £5, with a surcharge of £2 for a day's bike carriage. Child fares are half the adult price. See the full fare chart for more details. Tickets can be bought when boarding the BikeBus, or in advance from the Tourist Information Office in Cambridge. BikeBus Explorer is a public bus service - concessionary passes are honoured in the usual way.
