Beth Robbins - Private Tutor

Hello,
I am an enthusiastic tutor with a passion for helping children reach their full potential! I like to use a variety of methods in my teaching in order to engage children and make learning more enjoyable.

Aside from tutoring I am currently studying for my degree in English Language and Linguistics (3rd year, expected 2:1).

My love for English was sparked by a lovely lady called Hillary Hammond, who taught me for all of 7 years. She saw that I had potential and made it her mission to help me build my confidence and improve so I could get the best grades possible.

Her teaching style was different to other teachers... There was no copying from text books or using ready made resources in the computer room. Instead she would find interesting adverts, or articles, or extracts from books and bring them in for us to analyse. She showed students that English is far from boring and it was this positive association with the subject that helped each and every one of her pupils to achieve a fantastic grade.

This style is one that I embrace in my teaching. I like to show my students the power of English and encourage them to love the subject. This, I believe, is the key to success.

I currently teach 10 pupils, many of which have contacted me because current clients recommend my services to them. I often also take on siblings of pupils who need help with reading, homework and general study. I also teach one maths class and one English class once a week - the children are in years 2&3 and thoroughly enjoy their lessons.

Below are the details of the role that I offer:

English tutor, also available to teach KS2, KS3, GCSE English and Maths. Also available for A - Level English Language.

Based in Hounslow - location is flexible as I am happy to travel.

Currently Studying:
Final year of degree - English Language and Linguistics

Qualifications held include:
A Level - English Language
BTEC L3 (A Level equivalent) - Applied Science
BTEC L3 (A Level equivalent) - Media Studies

9 GCSEs including English Lanaguage, English Literature, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

I hold a current DBS (CRB) certificate.

I am more than happy to travel within 10 miles to tutor pupils. I may go out of this area if need be, this depends on where you are and how long it will take me to get to you!
